Jim Guthrie
Jim Guthrie is the third owner of Hub + Weber since its founding in 1973. Hub + Weber is a small group of design professionals focused on the needs of our diverse clients and project types.
Specific roles and value: Jim manages every project with particular focus on a collaborative and methodological approach that engages our clients in a step-by-step process to obtain their goals. Considering client goals, needs, opportunities, dreams, budget and schedule to craft and ideal solution that exceeds our client’s expectations. Hub + Weber has a diverse client and project base where Jim guides and oversees design and process organization. Jim is particularly interested in elevating the firms design output and maintaining a fun firm culture and relationships with the community outside of architecture. Notable projects include Kemba Credit Union Corporate Headquarters in West Chester, Ohio, Hotel Covington in Covington, Kentucky, Florence Freedom Baseball Stadium in Florence, Kentucky, and MidFirst Credit Union in Trenton, Ohio. With his leadership, Hub + Weber is a vibrant and diverse office that focuses on the individual skills and interests of its staff. Jim believes strongly in building relationships beyond the business of architecture, and Hub+Weber hosts the region’s largest (also only) badminton tournament annually.
Personal tidbits: Jim is personally interested in community, issues of those without homes and placemaking. You can follow his thoughts on these subjects on the Hub+Weber blog. Jim is a founding member of Newport, Kentucky’s Design Review Committee and currently serves on the board of PAR Projects located in Northside. His previous board involvement includes Center for Great Neighborhoods in Covington, Kentucky Rural Urban Exchange, Renaissance Covington, and Covington’s Urban Design Review Board. He ran an urban art fair in Covington for several years, a graffiti mural program, several tactical urbanism projects and was the founding member of the fight club of philanthropy, CovingTEN.
Educational/Professional background: Jim received his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1989 and joined Hub + Weber shortly after graduating. He’s registered in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida and Connecticut. He has renovated two homes in Newport, Kentucky, the current of which is becoming increasingly vacant as his kids move off to college and professional lives.
Rebekah gensler
Employment experience with varying nonprofits in the arts, education, and religion. Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky, Subject Matter Expert for the Board of Trustees of Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky. Liaison with the Capital Improvements Committee for the Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington, Kentucky. Also picks a banjo.
