Sustainable Transportation Workshop Scholarships

Devou Good Foundation is offering scholarships to cover travel, accommodation, and registration costs for Greater Cincinnati area transportation advocates to attend various sustainable transportation conferences and workshops across the United States.

Programs

  • Comprehensive Bikeway Design Workshop - Aug 26–30, 2024 - Open to transportation engineers, urban planners, advocates, policymakers, municipal staff and other transportation professionals interested in nurturing cycling in their communities.

  • IBPI Study Abroad: Sustainable Transportation in Denmark - Tentative dates are: June 22 - July 6, 2024 - Portland State University presents an introduction to sustainable transportation and land use applications in the context of Denmark through a two-week study abroad program.

  • NACTO Designing Cities: Miami May 7-10, 2024 The NACTO Designing Cities Conference brings together 900 officials, planners, and practitioners to advance the state of transportation in cities.

  • Strong Towns National Gathering 2024: Cincinnati May 14-15, 2024 The work of making your neighborhood stronger can often feel lonely, slow, and even discouraging. But you don’t have to stay stuck in that feeling. Effective advocates don’t operate on their own. The Gathering will include inspiring speakers, hands-on workshops, and lots of opportunities to meet fellow advocates.

  • Congress For New Urbanism: Cincinnati May 15-18, 2024 The core of the gathering features over 70 sessions focused on placemaking. CNU is a multi-disciplinary organization composed of planners, architects, real estate developers, lenders, economic development officials, local government elected officials and staff, transportation designers, and community advocates, championing walkable urbanism and providing resources and education for creating people-centered places.

  • 2024 NOYS National Youth Transportation Equity Convening: Denver September 20-21, 2024 Join us for a monumental gathering dedicated to shifting power to young people and creating systemic change in pursuit of transportation equity and mobility justice. At the heart of this convening, youth voices will take center stage as we discuss best-practice strategies, share lived experiences, and meaningfully collaborate on crafting youth-led solutions for an inclusive, equitable and sustainable transportation system.

  • Safe Streets Central Ohio: Creating Vibrant Communities: Columbus, OH September 26, 2024 Safe Streets Central Ohio is an annual event hosted by the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) in collaboration with key partners to highlight efforts throughout the region to reduce the number of traffic fatalities and sever injuries occurring on our roadways. This event provides an opportunity for local decision=makers, transportation professionals, and public health practitioners, advocates, and other partners to come together to share, learn, and network with a focus on transportation safety. We will provide shuttle service if 3 or more attendees sign-up.

  • Vision Zero Cities 2024: NY, NY October 16-18, 2024 The 11th annual Vision Zero Cities will convene global leaders dedicated to achieving Vision Zero. This gathering unites city officials, planners, engineers, advocates, scholars, and industry leaders to share insights, explore innovative strategies, and discover cutting-edge solutions for challenges facing our cities. Over three days, participants will engage in keynotes, in-depth breakouts, immersive field tours, and personalized networking, all geared towards advancing safer and fairer streets and public spaces.

  • Movement Matters Community Organizing Institute Washington, DC January 27th - 31st, 2025 Movement Matters' 5-day Community Organizing Institute in Washington, DC teaches relationship building, constituency building, and power building through hands-on training grounded in arts and cultural practices. The institute, designed for organizers with 1-3 years of experience, combines practical skills with theoretical frameworks using a values-based, anti-oppression approach.

Devou Good Foundation is awarding a limited number of scholarships to support the cost of travel, accommodation, and attendance. 

Eligibility

These scholarships serve to increase access to sustainable transportation development for attendees who work and volunteer in the Greater Cincinnati area.
