The DevouGrass Music and Arts Festival may be a little more than a month away, but fans can support the cause starting Friday, August 21 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Covington’s Braxton Brewing Company during the tapping release party for DevouBrew, Braxton’s Golden Cream Ale, Storm, infused with cucumbers, lime, and mint. The refreshing, end-of-summer beer will be available in the taproom, while supplies last, until the DevouGrass Music and Arts Festival takes place in September. Braxton Brewing will donate $1 from the sale of every DevouBrew pint to the DevouGrass festival’s charities.

The second annual DevouGrass Music and Arts Festival will be held at Covington’s Devou Park Bandshell on September 26, 2015. The family-friendly fest will remain free to attend and feature music, artisan craft vendors, food trucks, and entertainment for kids of all ages. Proceeds will once again be donated to Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky for youth substance abuse disorder programs.

In honor of Covington’s Bicentennial, the Devou Good Project Inc. has furthered its mission to help the city thrive by inviting nonprofits and other community-based groups to enter The Covington Project Contest. The contest seeks to help qualifying organizations get a community betterment project completed. The project is open exclusively to groups with ideas that will benefit the community of Covington, Kentucky such as festivals, awareness campaigns, school initiatives, beautification projects, park space and projects that come to the aid of people directly. The DGP does not issue grants, but instead provides expertise, labor, management and materials to make the winning project(s) become reality.

If you, like me, feel a stirring deep in your soul at the sound of a banjo (or the sight of a child dancing with reckless abandon to said banjo), then don’t miss the DevouGrass festival on October 4 at Devou Park in Covington. Festivities begin at noon and continue until dusk, featuring food trucks, kids activities, vendors, and live music of the bluegrass, Americana, folk and newgrass varieties (I had to Google “newgrass,” and I’m stoked) .
